Manchester United Racing To Sign Lionel Messi From Barcelona

The ongoing bust-up between Lionel Messi and the club's sporting director Eric Abigal has attracted Manchester United's attentions to woo the striker with a deal for a move to Old Trafford.

Abigal blamed the players for not going their best under former head coach Ernesto Valverde leading to the club's poor performance that resulted in his dismissal and replaced with Quique Setien.

Those claims by the club's senior official did not go down well with Messi and asked the club's executive to take the responsibility for their own decisions rather than passing the buck. He expressed his dismay for his former teammate in a statement released on social media accounts.

Getting to secure an Old Trafford move for the Argentine who has spent all his career at Nou Camp might be something that can be considered near impossible, but the six-time Ballon d'Or winner can leave the Spaniards for free in summer and there are speculations that United are already in the race.

According to an Italian tabloid Gazzetta dello Sport, United are amongst top European clubs who can afford a deal with the Argentine and not only that, they are already considering to woo him over anyways.
