Lionel Messi Is Not Leaving Barcelona In Summer

As against speculations that Lionel Messi might leave Barcelona in summer over spat with club's sporting director Eric Abidal but that does not seem to be the case for the Argentine who reportedly is keen on remaining at the club even longer than summer.

Messi's reaction to Abidal's claims that the team is to blame for their woos quickly went widespread and even gained the club's president Josep Bartomeu's attention, who is now holding talks with Abidal to discuss his future at the club.

Actually, if the six-time Fifa world best player wanted, he could leave in summer as stipulated in his contract that runs until 2021, rather he is willing to stay to the end of his contract. Aside from that, there are possibilities that Barca would like to discuss an extension with him after contract expiration.

"I think that when players are talked about, names should be given," Messi said on Instagram reacting to Abidal's comments. "because, if not, we are all being dirtied and it feeds comments that are made and are not true."

The 32-year-old could not lead the team through the semi-final of the Copa del Rey against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday after Sergio Busquets headed in an own goal three minutes after stoppage time to hand Athletic a 1-0 victory to reach the final.

Reacting to the bust-up between Messi and Abidal, the club's manager Quique Setien weighed in to resolve the dispute as he said in a statement that, "In any club like this there are problems."
