Lionel Messi Commits Career To Barcelona Despite Rumours Of Leaving In Summer

Lionel Messi has come out to dismiss any anticipation to leave Barcelona in summer rather he would prefer to stay on as long as he is allowed to remain at the club.

There was a rift between the six-time Ballon d'Or winner and the club's director of sport Eric Abidal and there are speculations the situation might force the Argentine out of the club as the relationship with the club's senior executive has failed.

"I have said many times that my idea is (to remain at Nou Camp)," he mentioned during an interview with Mundo Deportivo. "As long as the club continues to want that, there will never be a problem."

For Messi to remain at Barcelona will be completed up to the club following a clause in his contract that allows Barca to let him in summer for free. In spite of his desire to stay, the 32-year-old did not deny be approached by European clubs for signing in summer if he wanted to leave.

Despite being approached by top clubs who would not mind to cough out the buyout clause stipulated in his contract, Nou Camp is yet "home" to Messi and would prefer to win more Champions League and Spanish La Liga with the team still.

"I have always had the choice, there were many interested clubs willing to pay the release clause, but it never occurred to me to leave and does not now either."
