La Liga: Barcelona Beat Getafe To Level Points With Real Madrid

Barcelona could take a sigh of relief after earning the maximum points needed from the league game against Getafe to level points with Real Madrid.

Getafe fell by 2-1 at Nou Camp with Antoine Griezmann and Sergi Roberto putting the side ahead before the opponents could pull one back from Angel Rodriguez. Meanwhile, Getafe could have been in the lead first as the referee ruled out Allan Nyom's goal for a foul offense on Samuel Umtiti.

Marc Cucurella tried to put the visitors in the lead with a dazzling right-footed shot from inside the box that went just wide before Barca responded as Lionel Messi produced the right pass for Griezmann who converted the chance for their first goal.

Six minutes later after the opener, Roberto wasted no time Junior Firpo's crossed and slammed it down the bottom left of the post for the second goal. Messi tried to extend the lead further with a header but could not beat Soria who dived to palm out the ball into safety.

If there was a brilliant finish in the game, it was Rodriguez by the way he volleyed home Jaime Mata's cross. That happened to be the only goal Getafe would get in the game and Barca went on to seal the victory.

Real Madrid will face Celta Vigo on Sunday and a win for them would throw Barcelona down by three points adrift behind them.
