Jay-Z Declined Halftime Show Performance On Principle Bases

Many might not know that Jay-Z was meant to perform at this year's Super Bowl Halftime Show but he turned down the offer based on principle.

Jay-Z revealed the organizers contacted to perform at the Show but the conditions they placed on him are ridiculous and he can't deal with. The best option was to walk away from the offer anyways.

"Of course I would have but I said 'No, you get me," he told the New York Times. "That is not how you go about, telling someone that they're going to do halftime show contingent on who they bring. I said forget it. It was a principle thing."

Kanasas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years having claimed a 31-20 win against San Francisco 49ers. However, during the National Anthem recitement, Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce were seen sitting while others were standing.

The '99 Problems' rapper signed a deal with the NFL last year and quickly attracted many critics calling him out for not including Colin Kaepernick, who lost his job with San Francisco 49ers for a knee protest against police brutality.

Clarifying on why he accepted to do business with the NFL, the Roc Nation owner mentioned that his intentions were actually not to make money but to fight against issues that an average African Americans deal with. As he mentioned to the NYT, there is a need to stand up to the challenge and do something "because people are still dying".
