Fear Of Coronavirus Hinders Odion Ighalo From Travelling To Spain With Manchester United

Odion Ighalo did not make winter break trip to Spain with Manchester United over fears he might not be allowed back into the country for new border regulations because of coronavirus.

Coronavirus has put a whole city in China in a lockdown with well over 700 lives already lost to the infection and thousands quarantined. The virus has also found its way into the United Kingdom with about three persons infected and no casualties have been reported.

"Odion will stay in Manchester because he arrived from China in the last 14 days," said United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. "Of course he might have liked to come with the players and got to know them, but the risk [of facing restrict rules at the border], we don't want to take that."

The Nigerian striker joined the side in a surprise loan move from Shanghai Shenhua on the Deadline Day of January transfer window after talks to sign Joshua Kings from AFC Bournemouth failed.

Odion's first spell in the Premier League was at Watford for three seasons and left for a move to China - first to Changnum Yatai and then Shenhua - before returning to the English League in a loan move to United in January.
