Chelsea Announce Biggest Net-Profit In Last Two Transfer Windows
Chelsea announced a net-profit of £173.7 million which is believed to be the highest recorded by any clubs in the last two transfer windows despite just serving the Fifa transfer ban last summer.
Their transfer ban was lifted in December by the Court of Arbitrary for Sport after an appeal, allowing them to participate in the January transfer window, in spite of that, Blues' manager Frank Lampard made no new signing.
Blues were ban for breaching the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations that guide the promotion of young players to the senior team. That being said, a substantial part of the profit is understood to have been from Eden Hazard's move to Real Madrid in summer.
Unlike the London-based club, Real Madrid and Aston Villa are amongst clubs who recorded negative balance with £152m and £142m respectively.
Chelsea are facing contest from Sheffield United to secure first Champions League qualification under Frank Lampard as they remain top-four with two points clear Sheffield. Nevertheless, they will face Bayern Munich in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
