Champions League: Real Madrid Suffer First-Leg Tie Loss To Manchester City

Manchester City dealt a massive blow to Real Madrid at home with a comeback that wiped off the Spaniards' lead to lose by 2-1 with Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne leading the goalscoring.

Real will be faced with a tough match on their trip to Etihad Stadium having lost the first-leg ties to City who are vying for their first Champions League title which of course would not mean they will be participating next season following Uefa's two-season ban.

Isco finished off Vinicius Junior's pass from inside the box to give Real the lead on an hour of play and City pull one back in for an equalizer with Gabriel Jesus heading home De Bruyne's cross and the Belgian netted the decider by converting a penalty drawn by Carjaval for tripping Raheem Sterling in the box

City showed strong resilience against Real and Pep Guardiola is a manager not new to dealing with the side, mind you, he once trained Barcelona and his men were able to avoid letting the Spaniards into their 18-yard box. In spite of that, they were very close to knocking in an opener but Ederson Moraes saved Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema's shots from close range.

The goalless halftime did not go through without City getting a fair share of scoring chances with Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker coming close with shots from close range and were stopped by Thibaut Courtois.

City did not allow their struggle with Uefa ban to wear them down and pushed through to claim their first-ever Champions League victory against Real Madrid. Making matters worse for the hosts was the red-carding of Sergio Ramos for his tackle on Gabriel. Ramos will be missed on their trip to Etihad for the second-leg.
