Alexander Lacazette Commits Career To Arsenal, Dismisses Plans To Leave In Summer

Alexander Lacazette has come out to address fears that he might choose to leave Arsenal in summer by triggering a clause in his contract that allows him to leave if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The Frenchman had just regained his scoring streak after nine-game drought with his in 4-0 win against Newcastle United and yet again he scored the decider (1-0) against Olympiacos in the Europa League last Thursday.

Speaking about the speculated exit plan, the 28-year-old dismissed claims as false, rather he is not committed only to scoring as a striker but to help build a formidable team. Arsenal had played through four winless league games before their first against Newcastle.

"I didn't know about this. I have a contract with the club," he told a British media. "So, there is no point for me to leave if everyone is happy with me at the club."

He admitted there was pressure on for not scoring through nine league games, however, he believed the responsibility to win matches lied with the team and not just him.

He added, "For me, it is not the best when I am not scoring. There is a pressure but it's not just about me. I want to help the team and score but it is not the pressure from my transfer."

However, all hope of making the Champions League might not be lost for Arsenal as they trail the least in the top four (Chelsea) by seven points which might also be difficult to come up with to be reasonable. Uefa's continental ban served Manchester City left an open slot in the qualification and Manchester United are poised to making that other than Gunners.

Anyways, Arsenal will host Olympiacos in the second-leg tie of the Europa League Last 32 at Emirates Stadium on Thursday.
