Steven Bergwijn Leaves PSV Eindhoven, Completes £27M Deal Move To Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspurs have been given a needed boost in the attack with the signing of Steven Bergwijn from PSV Eindhoven in a deal move of £27 million that will run until 2025.
Bergwijn was dropped from the Dutch side's training session this week, for having been suspected of traveling to the Premier League club for his medical without approval but his manager, Ernest Faber, revealed that he sanctioned it before the forward embarked on the journey.
"This is certainly a dream come true," he said on move speaking to a Dutch publication De Telegraaf. "I have always looked up to a top coach like [Jose] Mourinho. And now I'm going to play for him. I come here to win prizes."
With Harry Kane ruled out for injury and Christian Eriksen already left for Inter Milan, the 22-year-old will be given Spurs a needed bolstering in the attack and might be making a debut in Machester City derby at White Hart Lane on Sunday as the team battle to make the top four of the table for Champions League qualification.
Mesmerized by state-of-the-art facilities at Spurs' newly-built stadium with over 62,000 seating capacity, the newly-signed player could not help but confess how wowed he was on his visit to the stadium.
He added, "It's great to be here. Just look at the facilities around us. When I play FIFA on the PlayStation, I almost always choose a team from the Premier League."
