Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Step Back From Royal Family, Want To Be "Financially Independent"

Prince Harry and Duchess of Sussex spent the Christmas and New Year with their Son, Baby Archie,  in faraway Canada - It was their first yuletide season as a parent.

During that period, they released their first family Christmas Card with their son who later debuted in a picture with his father, the Duke of Sussex. The internet went in a frenzy over that.

All that being said, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, made an announcement that they have chosen to step back as "senior members of the Royal Family" to allow them to work to become "financially independent" by themselves.

"We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support her Majesty The Queen," reads the joint statement joint released via their official Instagram page on Wednesday.

The news, however, Buckingham Palace confirmed comes as a surprise to The Queen as Her Majesty was not informed before they went ahead to make a statement that made Her "disappointed".

The statement added, "After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution."
