Premier League: Manchester United Could Not Stop Liverpool From Winning At Home


Liverpool are on the run with no stopping them after beating Manchester United with a late strike from Mo Salah that sealed a 2-0 victory Anfield and extended their lead to a milestone of 16 points clear closest team.

Reds earned a well-deserved victory over United which could have conceded more goals than the game witnessed as they had a couple of misses and Roberto Firmino had his goal ruled out by the VAR for his challenge on David de Gea.

The first goal actually came in early with a header from Virgil van Dijk following a corner by Alexander-Arnold and that was followed by Firmino's canceled goal after a protest and verification by the referee.

Not long after David Gea dived to save a shot from Jordan Henderson, Salah had a fast break and finished it off despite a strong challenge from. Meanwhile, United was close to getting an equalizer but Anthony Martial shot wide a scoring chance from inside the box. 

Despite losing to Reds which could have been expected as they are yet to lose a game in a calendar year, United still maintained position in top six and are top-four hopeful as they trail Chelsea by five points.

Liverpool's goalkeeper Allison assisted in the second goal after setting off Salah by lobbing the ball over that connected to him in the middle of the field before he finished it off. That assist made him the first Red's goalie to assist in a league game goal since 2010 after Pepe Reina.
