Premier League: Liverpool On The Run For Total Table Dominance After Beating Tottenham

Liverpool have pushed further their lead to a 16-point margin after secured a 1-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane. Leicester City 1-2 home loss Southampton handed Reds a much bigger lead for a race to their first league title victory since 1989/19 season.

Reds had many goalscoring chances but were faced with a resilient Spurs that get them at bay until after the first half-hour of play when Mo Salah let a pass to Roberto Firmino in the box and smacked a left-footed shot home to end the deadlock.

Before Spurs dropped behind in scoring, Henderson had inspired a goal attempt with a cross that picked out Virgil van Dijk amongst a pack of Reds' player for a header from close range but Kepa Arizzabalaga reacted swiftly and palmed the ball out into safety.

Roberto Firmino scored his fifth goal in six games for Liverpool

Spurs played without Harry Kane who has been ruled out until April for a hamstring injury but Dele Alli and Lucas Moura held strong the frontline for the side whilst Son Heung-min was substituted for Giovani lo Celso in the second half.

"It was very hard-fought because we didn't close the game down early. We should have been one or 2-0 up already when we scored," said Jurgen Klopp. "If you have quality opponent like Tottenham and you don't close the game they will come back."

Liverpool are yet to lose a Premier League game in 38 fixture and have collected 104 points during the stretch which is the biggest ever recorded for any club in history. Their last defeat was against Manchester City in January 2019.
