Miley Cyprus Settles Lawsuit Against 'We Can't Stop' Out Of Court

Miley Cyprus has settled out of court a lawsuit against her for her hit song 'We Can't Stop' by a Jamaican reggae singer who alleged that she sampled a song he released in 1988.

Michael May claimed 'We Can't Stop' is very similar his hit song 'We Run Things' in the sense that the lyrics are not different. He cited that the phrase, 'We run things. Things no run we,' was taking directly from his which he released in 1988 - May's version was a massive success in Jamaica such that it was then number one favourite song in the country.

In the lawsuit, May demanded that Cyprus and her label RCA Record pay him for having to sample the original without his approval. They later found a way out to settle the accusations.

The dispute between the two parties was resolved as Cyprus, her label, May and his representatives reportedly filed a joint stipulation at Manhattan federal court on Friday.
