Mikel Arteta Wants Shkodran Mustafi To Remain At Arsenal
Mikel Arteta does not look like one who ready to let go of his players in this window rather would keep as much as he could as the team has a bunch of players ruled out for injury.
Just today, we reported that the newly-hired manager rejected a loan move for Eddie Nketiah, now it has surfaced that he would be keeping Shkodran Mustafi at the club in this window. The German has not been getting enough game time at the club and has only appeared in a game in 22 league games this season.
Arsenal will be missing its key striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for three league games following a red card offense over the weekend, likewise, Arteta has Calum Chambers on the sideline for the rest of the season and Konstantinos Mavropanos is on a loan move to Nurnberg.
Since there is a dare need to strengthen his options in the midfield, Arteta promised to keep the German for much longer and that will be up to him if he chooses to.
"Can we afford [to lose a centre-back? If it happens, we will have to invent something. We are already playing with full-backs that are not full-backs," Arteta said on his choice to keeping Mustafi.
He added, "I told everybody from day one: 'It is up to you guys. You show me how much you want it, you show me you are committed here, you are going to have a chance and it is going to come this week, next week or the following one."
