Manchester United: Talks Break Down For Sporting Lisbon's Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United's move to land a deal with Sporting Lisbon for Bruno Fernandes has hit a brick wall as their offer has been rejected by the club and they might have to look elsewhere.

Talks broke down between the two clubs over fee demands for the player who has a price tag of £68 million and Red Devils can not afford to dole out that much money. It will be the second time their offer is declined and might be the final for the player in this transfer window.

United previously offered £42 million for Fernandes which was rejected and then made the second approach by jacking up the price offer to over £50 million, which will be paid in two separate payments - £42.5 million upfront and £8.5 million as add-ons.

Yet, that offer could not make it through. That payment plan and amount are not in line with Lisbon's demand and are not ready to take a reduced fee for the striker, as a result, they relinquish interest in further talks with United over the player.

Now, a transfer for the 25-year-old is no longer in view as United's co-chairman Joel Glazer reportedly is not pleased with the deal as it was and also thinks the player is not really worth that amount demand for.

However, United has a bunch of players in injury spell such as Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford and both will not be fully fit for a while. As the window lasts until Friday next week, United will have to either meet up with Lisbon's demand or scout for another player.
