Manchester United Edge Close To Signing Bruno Fernandes From Sporting Lisbon
Bruno Fernandes, potentially, will soon be on his way to Old Trafford as Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon have agreed on a deal for his move in this window.
Talks between the two clubs had first broken down as United could not meet with Lisbon's demand for the midfielder but they later reached a compromise of £55 million for the Portuguese side's captain.
Initially, Lisbon demanded £60 million from United to secure a deal for the 24-year-old but they offered them £40m million instead. Lisbon could not help but simply reject the offer for Fernandes from United presented to them last week.
Since United are in dare need of a player to fill in the gap for Marcus Rashford who will be out for three months following an injury, it was necessary for them to work out an agreement with their counterparts.
The extent of Rashford's back injury is yet unknown and the team manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer said his player will retain out-of-action as long as necessary until he is "100 percent" fit.
"Marcus is going to get as long as he needs. We are not going to risk him when he has had an injury," he said. "When he comes back he will be 100 percent fit."
