Liverpool Reject Loan Bid For Xherdan Shaqiri From Roma And Sevilla

Securing a transfer for Xherdan Shaqiri in this window might not be possible as Liverpool are reportedly keen on retaining at the club until summer.

AS Roma and Sevilla are the two sides linked to the Swiss and Liverpool are understood to have rejected all offers from their European counterparts neither will they consider agreeing to a loan move for the striker.

Since Reds have gained the strong lead in the Premier League table with massive 16 points clear nearest team in the bid to end their league title drought since 1989/90, they are understood to have thought it best to keep the 29-year-old who won the Champions League with them last season.

However, Liverpool have a suitable replacement for him as they have Takumi Minamo who they signed from Red Bull Salzburg in January, but they intended to be opened to discussion for Xherdan in summer with a price tag reportedly set for £25.5 million.

The forward moved to Anfield from Stoke City after a release clause of £13 million was triggered and has only scored seven goals in 40 appearances in all competitions since leaving Stoke in 2018/19.
