Liverpool Announced New Kit Deal, Breaks Previous Record Set By Manchester United
After a period of a legal battle between Liverpool and its previous kit suppliers, New Balance over contract renewal, the Premier League club has sealed a record-breaking deal with their new suppliers, Nike.
Liverpool and the footwear and apparel maker have signed a juicy contract of £80 million-a-year to design the clubs' men, women, and youth's team kits from June 1, 2020. This deal canceled out the previous record set by Manchester United for the biggest kit deal for £75 million.
In a statement released by Reds, it confirmed both parties have entered into a deal that will commence from next season and glad it did as it will usher in improvements in his training facility and that of its environ.
"Liverpool Football Club is delighted to announce Nike, the world's leading footwear and apparel company as its official kit supplier from the 2020-21 season," the statement reads and added, "A projected that includes investment in improved sport facilities for the local community."
Before Liverpool could strike a deal with Nike, New Balance had dragged them to court in September, with claims that it met with all the criteria required for contract renewal, but a London Court threw out their lawsuit and upheld Reds' decision to enter into a partnership with Nike.
Nike chief Bert Hoyt also expressed his delight in the company's partnership with a football club that has a "proud heritage and strong identity" with a "passionate worldwide fanbase".
