Liverpool And Chelsea In Race To Signing This RB Leipzig Striker

Liverpool and Chelsea are in a contentious move for an RB Leipzig striker for a deal signing in this window despite having a huge price tag of £60 million. Timo Werner is the player in between these two Premier League giants.

Already, Liverpool have given their attack a boost with the signing of Red Bull Salzburg's Takumi Minamino as their first signing in this window but as Xherdan Shagiri approaches the end of his contract at Anfield, the Premier League leaders are in search for his replacement. That calls for Jurgen Klopp's need for Werner.

Chelsea are back in the market after their FIFA transfer ban is lifted and the manager Frank Lampard is understood to be in talks with the Werner, according to The Sun. Frank is reportedly keen to landing a deal with the 23-year-old possibly in the race to finish the season in the top-four of the Premier League.

Neither of the clubs has secured an agreement with the striker who has scored 18 goals in 17 appearances this season as they are both abreast in the race.

However, Shagiri is linked to a move to AS Roma but the Italian side would prefer to first sign him to a loan deal with an option to retain him permanently at the club after his loan stint.
