FA Cup: Arsenal Advance To Fourth-Round With After Beating Leeds United

Reiss Nelson scored the winning goal to deliver Arsenal from resilient Leeds United, who they defeated by 1-0 to progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Arsenal could not blink against the Championship side as they repeatedly laid siege to the hosts' defense and were close to getting a goal with a brilliant strike from Patrick Bamford from inside the box narrowly missed the net to clip the crossbar.

In another instance, Gunners' goalkeeper Martinez swiftly reacted to Ezgjan Alioski's headed from a close range. After the break, Arsenal responded with a brilliant free-kick from Alexandre Lacazette that clipped the edge of the crossbar to bound off into safety.

Leeds eventually went down when Nicolas Pepe snatched the ball away from Barry Douglas and moved in on the ball to do a one-two with Lacazette whose return pass to the Ivorian was deflected to Nelson's reach for a tap into the net.

The game was very emotional for Arsenal's manager Mikel Arteta who shouted at his players until they finally moved ahead in the 55th minute. It was a well-deserved victory for Arsenal who fairly dominated the game but Leeds were not an easy cracker for them either.

When asked about the game in a postmatch interview, Lacazette explained the reason for his manager's action as he said, "He was not happy because we knew they'd play like this and we didn't respect what he had said."
