FA Charge Manchester United Of Improper Conduct During Match Against Liverpool

The FA has pressed charges against Manchester United alleging the team of lack of "conduct" in protest of Roberto Firmino's goal that was later ruled out by the referee after consulting with the VAR during their league game defeat to Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield.

The officiating officer, Craig Pawson, was surrounded by United players when Firmino smacked a shot home from Sadio Mane's pass but Van Dijk roughly challenged David de Gea inside the box leading to the ball falling off his hands to Mane's reach.

In a statement released by the English football governing body, it confirmed that United has breached the rule for not conducting themselves in "orderly fashion" during the match.

"Manchester United FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20(a)," the statement reads. "It is alleged that the club failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 26th minutes of the Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Sunday (19/1/20).

Liverpool won the game by 2-0 with an early opening goal from Van Dijk's header following a corner and Mo Salah brilliantly finished off a fast break set off by Allison who connected him with a long pass from inside the box.

The victory further extended Reds' table dominance and are 16 points clear nearest team, Manchester City, whilst United remained in the fifth position with 27 points.
