Chelsea Speak On Olivier Giroud's Future

Chelsea will not be ready to discuss any offer for its player Olivier Giroud despite links from clubs both without and outside of the Premier League according to the team's assistant manager Jody Morris.

Blues are fourth in the table which puts the side in the required position for Champions League qualification if maintain to the end of the season and Jody revealed it is not in their best interest to allow the Frenchman to leave for another club in the January window transfer.

Jody was representing his boss Frank Lampard at a press conference when he mentioned that holding on to the striker is "for the benefit of the club". He also clarified that the club "Can't just let people walk out the door if that means we're short somewhere."

Giroud extended his previous contract in May until the end of the 2019/20 season. Nothing is revealed about the striker being in talks for another extension which would mean he can leave as a free agent in summer by when he will be out of contract with Chelsea.

He added that the 33-year-old has proved to be "nothing but a class act and a top professional" in the team, and for that reason, he believes there should be nothing to worry about him remaining with Chelsea.

The former Arsenal player who has only scored once in five league games appearances this season has recently been linked to Aston Villa who are struggling to stay clear of the relegation zone.
