Australian Open: Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic Win Opening Round Match
Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have returned to Melbourne for yet another season campaign for title grabs and they had opened the competition with first-round match victories.
Federer started off with a sweeping victory against American opponent Steven Johnson through three sets, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2, whilst Djokovic battled through four sets, 7-6(5), 6-2,2-6, 6-1, against Jan-Lennard Struff.
The world number two, Djokovic, won the Inaugural ATP Cup for Serbia after leading the side's doubles to beat Team Spain in the final which Rafael Nadal withdrew from after losing to him in the singles.
That victory was Djokovic's 900th career win and the first time he would drop a set in the first-round match in the Australian Open since 2006.
The Serb, 32, tops in Melbourne as the all-time biggest winner with seven titles and also is the defending champion and is bidding to extend his record at the competition but has Roger Federer is in the campaign for his career seventh title in Melbourne.
