Premier League: Wolves Beat Manchester City In Stunning Comeback

Manchester City's title race has suffered a massive setback after a 3-2 defeat in a late comeback by Wolverhampton that canceled out their lead scored by Raheem Sterling. In effect, the loss handed Liverpool a pass to hold to a comfortable lead.

City went one man down for the most part of the game following goalkeeper Ederson Moraes' dismissal for a foul on Diogo Jota. Wolves seized the chance to dominate the game and that paid off despite falling behind by two goals before staging a rally to win.

Raheem Sterling had missed a penalty but made up for it by converting the rebound from the spot-kick for an opening goal and he doubled the lead after the break by chipping the ball over Patricio after connecting a pass from Kevin de Bruyne.

Raul Jimenez levels the scoring for Wolves in 3-2 win against Manchester City

Adama Traore stepped in for Wolves and finished a superb 30-yard to put one back for the side and inspired and equalizer by winning the ball off Benjamin Mendy and laid a through pass to Raul Jimenez for the finish from close range.

By this time, Wolves had the game under control and worked out the victory with a good communication between Jimenez and Matt Doherty whom he set off with a back flick and dribbled into the box before smacking home the winning goal. Both equalizer and the deciding goal was scored late into the game within a space of seven minutes.

Sterling tried shouldering City through the game at least to force a draw but his free-kick clipped the crossbar and went out of touch for a goal kick to Wolves.

The VAR played a vital role in the game as Sterlings' penalty was taking twice. He missed the first attempt as Patricio palmed it for a quick clearance into safety. Unfortunately, the device ruled Patricio had stepped out of the line before Sterling struck a shot.

However, City had not slid into defeat after going up by 2-0 lead since March 2018 against Manchester United (3-2). They remain in the third position with 38 points as title defense continues to slide out of reach.
