Premier League: Tottenham Fight Back To Claim Victory Over Brighton On Boxing Day


Tottenham fought back from a goal down to Brighton and wiped out the lead to claim 2-1 victory to push back on his plight to staying in the top four on the Premier League. Though Spurs are fifth in the table, they are only three points away from Chelsea who they trail in the fourth position.

Spurs were meant to have broken the deadlock before Brighton did but that was, as a result, another VAR ruling that canceled Harry Kane's goal he finished off from Harry Winks' cross for a quick break into Brighton's 18-yard box.

The hosts dropped behind the Brighton with Adam Webster pounding in a header from Pascal Gross' cross And Spurs could not level the scores until after the break when Moura Lucas set Kane off for a striker and volleyed in an equalizer when Matthew Ryan saved his back to his reach for a rebound.

After a brilliant exchange of passes in front of Brighton's box, Christian Eriksen found Serge Aurier with a cross in the box and he tapped it to Dele Alli for a sublime finish that went in flight over Mat Ryan for the winning goal.

Spurs returned to winning form after losing 2-0 at home to Chelsea on Sunday but Jose Mourinho has not lost a Boxing Day match (W6 D2) in all spells in the Premier League. Spurs are now fifth in the table with three points behind Chelsea.

Also, Kane has reached centenary mileage in his goal tally as the equalizer was his 100th career goal in all competitions and 90th in league games for Tottenham.
