Premier League: Southampton Stun Chelsea With Home Defeat
Chelsea had a disappointing game against Southampton who made away with maximum points at Stanford Bridge on Boxing Day. Blues remain in the top four but the gap closes with Tottenham by just three points.
At the blast of the whistle, delighted Southampton gladly gave each other a huge to celebrate that well-served 2-0 victory over Blues to move away from the relegation zone after winning the second league game in a row.
Michael Obafemi and Nathan Redmond got the two goals for Saints and Tammy Abraham could have sandwiched a goal in between for Chelsea but missed the goal by just an inch from close range.
Saints opener came on the backdrop of Callum Hudson-Odoi losing ball possession and Pierre-Emile picked it up and laid a through pass to Obafemi for a magnificent finish after taking out Kurt Zouma to create a chance for a finish.

Before Redmond chipped in the winning goal from Stuart Armstrong's cross from the right flang, he had come close with a shot from a close range but Kepa Arrizabalaga stopped it from going through.
It will be Chelsea's second home game loss in a row after 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth which happened to be their first back-to-back home defeat in a league game since 2011. The victory game Saints the needed maximum points that pushed them up to the 14th position.
"Teams are making it difficult here. We are not making enough chances," Frank Lampard lamented about Chelsea's loss. "We are being asked a different question at home. At the moment we are not answering them. We do not manage to pick up that final pass."
That goal scored Obafemi was his first in a year and that cilmunated in Saints winning their first away league game against a side that is in the top four of the Premier League since May 2016.
