Premier League: Marcus Rashford's Double Lifts Manchester United Over Jose Mourinho's Spurs

Jose Mourinho's return to Old Trafford since 2018 did not end well as Manchester United dented his streak with Tottenham with first league game defeat by 2-1.

The Portuguese watched Spurs go down in defeat as Marcus Rashford led United scoring with an opener early into the match and converted a penalty drawn by Moussa Sissoko early into the second half to seal the victory.

Spurs pulled back a goal from Dele Alli to level up the scoring after Rashford's opener but a double from United striker completed the scoreline after three winless matches.

Though moving up in points slowly, United have been unbeaten in previous nine home league games and for Mourinho to have lost this game by conceding two goals, that extended goal scored against Spurs by eight in total in all competitions since his appointment.

"You are always happy when you win," said United's Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. "The three points are massive for us. We've had too many draws this season and given too many points away from winning positions."
