Premier League: Jan Vertonghen Rescues Victory For Tottenham Against Wolves
Tottenham managed to get a victory on the road Wolverhampton with an injury goal from Jan Vertonghen that wrecked the hosts' efforts to hold down the game to a draw.
Jose Mourinho's men restored the hope of making the top four and close in Chelsea with just three points away, having earned the maximum points to leapfrog to the fifth position.
Spurs started off the game with an early goal with Lucas Moura smacking the ball home after Son Heung-min's attempt at the target was stopped by Rui Patricio. The game went through the half with Spurs in the lead but that would be met with an equalizer soon after the break.
Adama Traore brought the hosts back into the game leveling the scoring with a 20-yard shot that left Gazzanigga's diving fruitless. Whilst the game was coasting to a draw in the injury time, Vertonghen was left unmarked in the box and powered a header home to give Spurs' the victory in the added minutes.

Meanwhile, the game should have witnessed more goals from both sides with Eric Dier's shot at close range clipped the both of the poles and Dele Alli's curled shot missed the goal by inch. Likewise was Wolves who came just close to doubling the goal from Roman Saiss' header but Gazzaniga quick reacted and parried the ball into safety.
The individual brilliance of Lucas brought about Spurs' first goal, the Brazilian gained an advantage over Wolves' Diogo Jota and dribbled into the box before slamming the ball into the next. Patricio could not by any chance saved that.
Traore had more than just an attempt at the target, he responded to Spurs' lead with a shot but Gazzaniga denied him getting an equalizer for Wolves. He later succeeded after an hour of play but that could not save the side from defeat to Tottenham.
Spurs have under Jose Mourinho won four league games in five fixtures and have also booked a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League after coming out second in Group B.
