Premier League: Brighton Claim First Home Victory Against Arsenal

Freddie Ljungberg succeeding Unai Emery as the interim manager is yet to pay off as Arsenal continued to slide, leaving them with a 10-point deficit to top four of the EPL table.

Gunners conceded their first home game under the 42-year-old to Brighton by 2-1 which happened to be their first home defeat Brighton in any competitions. Meanwhile, Alexandre Lacazette celebrated his 100th goal for the side with a header that leveled the scoring after Adam Webster put the visitors ahead.

It should have been a different story for Gunners but VAR also has a role to play in their loss. Not that the device's ruling was questionable but David Silva's perfect finish from inside in the box following a free-kick was truly from an offside position. It clear in the review and that goal was ruled out.

The game later was decided by Neal Maupay and David Silva was beaten by him to a head from Aaron Mooy's cross that handed Arsenal their ninth winless run in all competitions - a streak that is regarded as their worst in 42 years.

That defeat sent Arsenal down to 10th position and the interim head explained that there were issues with the team's performance in the first half. For him, not much was done by the players who did not "work hard and want to play" in the first half according to him.
