Nigerian Artiste Duncan Mighty Arrested For Alleged £23,000 Fraud


Popular African pop singer Duncan Mighty whose real name is Duncan Okechukwu has been arrested by the police on alleged fraud in the tune of £23,000 (#11 million).

The artist's arrest was first rumored as an abduction by kidnappers but the Nigerian authorities later clarified that the singer is held in their custody, in response to an accusation of fraud leveled against him by another artiste M2, who claimed Duncan defrauded a state government of the fund state above.

"Today 14/12/19. operatives of the command arrested popular music artiste, Duncan Mighty on an allegation of fraud," said the police in a statement confirming the arrest

It further explained that a sum of #11m was released to Duncan by Imo State government on a deal to manage and promote M2 - a native of the state, under Young Wealth record label owned by him but the project was never carried out neither did he refund the money.

"Since collecting the payment, he refused to fulfill his own part of the deal. Sequel to the petition, the artiste was arrested and he affirmed having such agreement and collecting the fund."

The authorities added that his arrest was necessary since an arrest warrant had been issued after he went into hidden having failed to comply with an agreement reached with the government to refund the money after the contract was canceled
