Napoli Set To Replace Carlo Ancelotti With Gennaro Gattuso

Gennaro Gattuso has been tipped to be reportedly coasting to replace Napoli ousted manager Carlo Ancelotti who was sacked by the club on Tuesday.

The dismissal of the former Chelsea manager was announced shortly after the team progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League having defeated Genk by 4-0 with Arkadiusz Milik leading the scoring with a hattrick.

Before the 60-year-old was sacked by the club, Napoli had played ten consecutive games without a win. That, however, was not stated as the reason the club sacked him as the statement released by the club on Twitter maintained that the relationship between its president Aurelio De Laurentiis and Ancelotti remains intact.

Sky Sport in Italy had reported on Tuesday that the former AC Milan manager Gattuso is leading in the candidates the club has shortlisted to take over management from Ancelotti and that yet remains even until now.

There are speculations that Everton and Arsenal are considering Ancelotti for the role of a manager at their clubs but Gunners are believed to prefer a candidate who was once a player of the team and that brings Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira to top of the list.
