Napoli Sack Carlo Ancelotti After Team Beats Genk 4-0
Carlo Ancelotti has been sacked just after leading Napoli through to the knockout stages of the Champions League with a 4-0 win over Genk to finish in second place behind Liverpool in Group E.
There are no given reasons for the dismissal of the former Chelsea manager from the Italian side and the statement released by the club on Twitter maintained that the relationship between the ousted manager and the club president Aurelio De Laurentiis remains in good shape.
"The Societa Sportiva Calcio has decided to revoke the role of technical manager of the team from Mr. Carlo Ancelotti," reads the statement written in Italia.
"The relations of friendship, esteem, and mutual respect between the company, its president Aurelio De Laurentiis and Carlo Ancelotti remain intact."
The 60-year-old joined the side after a season and a half spell in Bayern Munich where he won the Bundesliga title in his debut season and also DFL Supercup in 2016, and 2017.
