Napoli Appoint Gennaro Gattuso As Carlos Ancelotti replacement

Napoli has appointed Gennaro Gattuso as the replacement for its former manager Marco Ancelotti after leading the team to qualify for the Champions League Last 16 on Tuesday.

There had been speculations that the former Chelsea manager will be replaced by the former AC Milan player as the club is not pleased with the team's winless run that lasted for ten consecutive games until beating Genk 4-0 on Tuesday.

However, the club did not blame their decision on the 60-year-old performance at the club in a statement released after his dismissal but it is believed that was the yardstick for their decision.

After his confirmation as the new head coach, Gattuso promised to restore the team back in the top four to guarantee their qualification for the Champions League next season as they are presently seventh with 21 points in the Serie A.

"Tha aim is to recoup points and get back into the Champions League position," said Gattuso. "We need to work hard, win back points and come through this tricky period."
