Miss World 2019: Winner Miss Jamaica Says "Platform Is More Than Beauty"
Miss Jaimaca Toni-Ann Singh has emerged as the winner of this year's Miss World beauty pageant, held on Saturday at the ExCel Exhibition Centre in London, United Kingdom.
The newly crowned beauty queen was crowned by her predecessor Miss Vanessa from Mexico on the announce of her victory over Miss India Rajasthan's Suman Rao who followed as the runners-up.
"I feel like I'm dreaming," said Toni-Ann. "Yes, I was shocked. I had to take a moment to say, 'they said Jamaica, they said Jamaica.'"
A renowned presenter by the name of Piers Morgan from ITV from was the head judge of the final question and answer session at the last stage of the event. At this stage, the contestants had been trimmed to final top five.
But, emerging as the beauty pageant queen comes with more tasks than contestants' beauty according to the winner Toni-Ann and as she mentioned that the "platform is about more than beauty" and one big task to it is the "charity" work done by the winners of the global beauty competition.
The event organisers have raised over $1 billion in charity toward the treatment of leprosy in Brazil and the distribution of sanitary towels in deprived Indian and African communities.
