Manchester City: Pep Guardiola Gives Up On Premier League Title Race

Wolverhampton have done devastating damage to Manchester City's league title race after the 3-2 home victory on Friday, and Pep Guardiola is of the opinion that hoping to defend the title, might just be delusional considering the margin by which they trail table leaders Liverpool.

Guardiola led City to win the Premier League title two-time in a row(2017/18, 2018/2019) and finished last season with a sensational domestic treble that was first of its kind in England, but it is clear to the Spaniard that his men might not be able to recover as Liverpool now lead by "too big" margin.

"The advantage is too big, yes," Guardiola said admitting Reds are on the run to clinching the trophy for the first time since 1990 having led the table by 14 points.

In admission to losing the race to Liverpool, the 48-year-old revealed that they hope to overtake Leicester City because thinking about finishing atop the table this season is "unrealistic" to do.

Liverpool beat Chelsea to win the UEFA Super Cup

"It's unrealistic to think about Liverpool," he added. "We have the chance to recover second place. I know the quality of my team but that's the situation."

Liverpool have been enjoying a sensational unbeaten run this season and have only drawn twice to drop points compared to City who conceded their fifth league games to Wolves. Jurgen Klopp's men are yet to lose a league game this year and are just two matches away from finishing the year 2019 unbeaten in the league.

Reds ended their title drought with Klopp by winning the Champions League and proceeded to win the UEFA Super Club and the Fifa Club's World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
