Jumanji: The Next Level Opens Overseas With $53 Million As Frozen II Nears Billion-dollar Mark

Dwayne Rock's film "Jumani: The Next Level" has finally made a touchdown but not in the domestic market as it is screening first in the overseas - in Europe and Asia. As you would expect, China is a big contributor in the Asian Pacific where projected gross expected to reach £40 million according to Deadline.

Well, the adventure film did fairly well on its debut in the international market with a total gross of $52.5 million but that projected for China fell short as it only contributed the big chunk of the cume but $25.3 million. Consider it predecessor, Welcome to the Jungle, performance on debut weekend, the sequel had a gentle start.

Welcome to the Jungle closed with just a few inches away from a billion-dollar worldwide gross ($962.1 million) and talking of its debut in the domestic market, it raked in $77.96 million to close at $404.6 million. Adding that up with results from the international market, $557.6 million, the first entry's performance was massive for sony.

However, Frozen II yet remained in atop of the box office with worldwide gross coasting to near the billion-dollar as it presently stands at $919.6 million.

With a budget of $150 million, the Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee is a huge success for Disney with a domestic gross that total at $337.5 million after adding up a gross $10.7 million over the weekend.

As would be expected, China is F2 biggest contributor but also made an impressive performance far away in Africa hauling in $800k in South Africa.
