FIA Prize Giving: Lewis Hamilton Wins the Year's Championship Trophy


Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has been awarded the year's world championship trophy at the FIA ceremony in Paris on Friday.

Hamilton has for the sixth-time won the Formula One Championship title. Likewise was the Mercedes constructor team which beat their Ferrari rivals for the championship title for the sixth consecutive time.

Mercedes witnessed some challenges from Ferrari especially from Charles Leclerc who claimed a pole hattrick in the qualifying and won in final races but Hamilton recovered to finish the season breaking his personal record with 413 points.

"I've enjoyed collaborating with this incredible team," he said. "Fighting hard with Valtteri and a lot of these up and coming young drivers this year has been fantastic."

Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen of Red Bull also received an award at the ceremony in Paris for finishing the season second and third position in the standings respectively. The Red Bull's driver was also awarded Action of the Year which he was recognized for on beating Charles Leclerc in Austria Grand Prix.
