Christian Eriksen Set To Leave Tottenham In January

Christian Eriksen did not fancy a new contract signing with Tottenham and might be heading out of the club as they are understood to be ready for deal talks for him.

Spurs intended to offer the Dane a pay rise in the new contract that will see him earn as much as £200,000-a-week, but the midfielder is reportedly resolute on his decision not to stay at the club and might be set for a £40 million move in the January transfer window.

Jose Mourinho also confirmed the potential exit of the 27-year-old in a statement and revealed that he has been discussing with the club's chairman Daniel Levy on the player's interest to leave for either La Liga or Italian Serie A.

"If I tell you that I didn't speak with Mr. Levy about Eriksen, Alderweirld, and Vertonghen, I would be lying," said Mourinho. "Important thing, really, is [they are] great professionals, big relationship with Tottenham, amazing understanding of what the club is and what we need from them."

There are speculations that Spurs might want to sell the player to Manchester United at the aforementioned price which is a much lesser price than what they demanded in summer. Whilst Spurs are considering United, Eriksen only wants a move that matches his desire.

Eriksen will be out of contract with Spurs by summer and he has been keen on a move to Real Madrid or Atletic Madrid. He joined the club from Ajax and has made 293 appearances for the side scoring 68 goals in all competitions.
