Liverpool have booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League after a 2-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg and finished atop of Group E - Napoli also made through with 4-0 win over Genk.

Reds could have made goals as Mo Salah came very close to breaking the deadlock on several occasions but it was Sadio Mane who produced the assist with across to Keita to head home in the second half.

Mo Salah rounded Salzburg goalkeeper before slotting in the winning goal from a difficult angel

Red Bull Salzburg came into the game with a strong conviction that they are certainly going through to the knockout stages and their fans had a strong message for Liverpool with a banner that reads, "We are not Barcelona or Real Madrid."

That was really true about the Austrian side as they came bashing at Liverpool's box with several goal attempts. As against expectations that teenage striker Erling HÃ¥land was the player to watch out for, Takumi Minamino and Hwang Hee-chan really made life difficult for the English side.

"I couldn't have more respect for what Salzburg did tonight," said Klopp. "What a team and what a game. It was really tough. They did so many smart things."

Klopp won the title with the team with a 2-0 win over Tottenham last term for their first since 2004/5. More so, it will be the team's third consecutive knockout stages appearances under the German manager.
