Will Arsenal Give Unai Emery The Boot Over Rumoured Links With Jose Mourinho
It is beginning to seem like the end of spell for Unai Emery, the successor of long-serving manager, Arsene Wenger, at Arsenal as the club is speculated to be looking the other way in the search for his replacement.
There are rumors Mourinho is linked to one of the top executives, Raul Sanllehi, who signed Emery to the club but that has since been dismissed by the club. Yet, it is understood that the Portuguese is keen on being Gunners' boss than any other clubs in the Premier League.
On many occasions, Mourinho has been asked about his interest in returning to management and he told Sky Sports back in September that it is his decision to "wait exactly for the right one" and such that matches the "dimension" of what he is as a manager.
Talking about a thirst for trophies, that may be true about the former Manchester United boss, who turned down any links to Benfica and Newcastle United - he cited that the Premier League club does not have a vision for winning trophies and settles for finishing in the middle of Premier league table.
Besides the 56-year-old's interest in Arsenal, there are speculations that he on Tottenham's priority list as a replacement for Mauricio Pocchettino, whose team has not been faring well this season - Spurs have gone winless in 12 Premier League away game and their last was a 1-1 draw against Everton on Sunday.
Mourinho was dismissed at Manchester United after losing 4-1 at home to Liverpool in December 2018 and has since been redundant. However, he was considered for a return to Real Madrid before Zinedine Zidane was re-hired. Even Manchester United are still rumored to be linked to him - United's interest in him was reignited by the club's winless run to the new season under Ole Solksjaer.
Back to Arsenal. The club's fans are somewhat impatient with Unai and after personally speaking a couple of them, there seemed to be a preference for Mourinho. Nevertheless, it is understood that the club's patience might fly out of the window should the team lose to Leicester City on Saturday.
