Tottenham Hotspur Fire Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino's five-year reign at Tottenham Hotspur has reached an end and has been sacked by the club for the unacceptable performance of the team in the Premier League.

Spurs are faring dangerously poor this season, slacking behind to be in the 14th position of the EPL table with 14 points, which was unlike the ousted manager since he was appointed from Southampton in 2014.

Speaking on the dismissal of the Argentine, the club's chairman Daniel Levy stated that the decision is such that was carefully made and the outcome reached to fire Pochettino was based on his team's performance from late last season to date.

"We were extremely reluctant to make this change," said Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. "It is not a decision the board has taken lightly, nor in haste. Regrettably, domestic results at the end of last season and this season have been extremely disappointing."

No replacement has since been announced yet and there are speculations that former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is the favourite for the job.

Levy added on firing Pochettino, "I have the utmost admiration for the manner in which he dealt with the difficult times away from a home ground whilst we built the new stadium and for the warmth and positivity he brought to us."

The anticipation that Mourinho is eyeing a return to the Premier League is nothing new and he once told the Sky Sports that he would rather wait until he finds the one that is at the dimension of what he is as a manager.
