Tottenham Appoint Jose Mourinho As New Manager After Firing Mauricio Pochettino

Jose Mourinho has returned to football management as Tottenham Hotspur's new manager after Mauricio Pochettino was sacked following the team's sloppy start to the season.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy described the signing of the former Manchester United and Real Madrid manager as one who has the right "wealth of experience and great tactician" that is required to take the team forward.

"In Jose, we have one of the most successful managers in football," said Levy. "He [Mourinho] has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room."

The 56-year-old signed to a four-year contract with the London-based club in his return to Premier League, eleven months after his dismissal at Manchester United to be replaced by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

"I am excited to be joining a club such a great heritage and such passionate supporters," said Jose. "The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me."
