Spain Re-Appoints Luis Enrique As National Team Manager
Spain has reappointed its former head coach Luis Enrique, 11 months after he stepped down over family issues to be replaced by his assistant Robert Moreno.
Moreno, who also worked with Enrique as an assistant at Barcelona and AS Roma, led the country to qualify for the EURO 2020 without losing a match and won their last game by 5-0 against Romania.
"Everyone knew if Luis Enrique wanted to come back he had the doors open," said Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales on Tuesday.
Moreno kept the promise he made to Enrique when he was appointed to replace him, that he would "step aside" if he chooses to return to his position. The 42-year-old led the team to finish atop with 26 points in Group F of the Euro 2020 Qualifiers.
