Premier League: Joshua King's Goal Snaps Manchester United Win Run To Lose To Bournemouth
Manchester United has just regained winning streak but only lasted through three matches as Joshua King led Bournemouth to interrupt the run with a goal on the brink of half time.
Joshua's effort brought Cherries' four-years winless run against United (D1 L60 to a halt and United have slid down the table to be in 10th position. Interestingly, the striker was the one who scored the winning for the side in their previous 2-1 win over United back in 2015 - that was their first-ever win over United.
United had a couple of chances with Fred and Daniel James' narrowly missing the goal but had themselves punished for having to leave the Norwegian, Joshua, unmarked in the box, allowing him to rightly control Adam Smith's cross, then brilliantly take out Wan-Bissaka before he volleyed the ball past David de Gea from close range.
"We could not capitalize on the good start and a moment of magic won the game for them," Ole Gunnar Solkjaer lamented the loss. "Sometimes you just hold up your hands and say 'Well done."
United did not do badly in terms of possessions and not pretty sharp in the frontline today. Solkjaer tried to improve on the attack with a late introduction of the teenage striker. Mason Greenwood, which stirred up the team at first but the scoreline did not change after all.
One frustration Solkjaer admitted to was that Mason could have converted the chances they had had he been in the starting lineup. For Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, he expected them to have ensured scoring the opening goal saying that, "In games like this one it is so important to get the first goal."
