Premier League: Frank Lampard Admits Manchester City Are Hard To "Control" After Chelsea's 2-1 Defeat
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is not having a tough time dealing with his team's away defeat to Manchester City as he admitted the home side are not easy ones to "control" neither were they to beat.
Pep Guardiola men have failed to win for three consecutive games as against their rivals Liverpool who are yet to lose a game to them lead by as much as nine points in the race to lifting the league title.
"We were playing some great stuff and we felt in control but you can't be absolutely in control against Manchester City," Lampard told BBC Sports. "It was bad luck for their first goal, and absolute quality from Riyad Mahrez for the second."
However, Frank Lampard's men lost to a stronger team and despite having better possession of the ball and making the first break with an opener from N'Golo Kante, City within a short while, punished them for a defensive error as Kevin de Bruyne calmly smacked in an equalizer from the edge of the box.
The game was sealed by Mahrez dribbling through Chelsea's defense before drilling a left-footed shot home from inside the box. Another error, this time from goalkeeper Arrizabalaga's poor clearance could have widened the margin but Sergio Suarez's attempt on the ball clipped the crossbar and bounced off into safety for Chelsea to deal with.
Lampard added, "If you look at City they are an example, and we're the absolute start of that process. A few of our players were in the Championship last season, but we want more."
