Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Anticipating Barcelona Move, Holds Off Arsenal Contract Renewal

For some reason, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is holding off his contract renewal at Arsenal and there are speculations that he is doing that to pave the way to joining La Liga giants, Barcelona.

Just as the Gabonese striker, Barcelona are understood to be linked to a couple of players in the Premier League such as Manchester United Marcus Rashford and teammate Alexandre Lacazette.

As already known that the Spaniards tried to resigned Neymar Jr from Paris Saint-Germain last season, and all attempts to bring him back to Spain failed. Nevertheless, the club is yet hopeful that someday it will resign the Brazilian as its sporting director Eric Abidal was quoted as saying that the striker "remains an option" at Nou Camp.

Aside from an interest in moving to Spain, there are claims that the 30-year-old only decided to hold off extending his contract at Arsenal until the end of the season whether the team will qualify for the Champions League or not before making a decision on his future.

Aubameyang joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in 2018 and has until 2021 in his contract. In his stint at the club, he played a vital role in the team finishing as an EFL Cup runner-up in 2017/18 and Europa League runner-up in 2018-19. In 78 appearances in all competitions, he has a record of 50 goals.
