Nitto ATP Finals: Roger Federer Beats Novak Djokovic To Reach Semi-finals
Roger Federer made it past top-seeded player Djokovic to reach the semi-finals of the season-ending tournament in his 17th career appearances.
The six-time champion outlasted the Serbian in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 and improve to 2-1 in Group Bjorn Borg. He qualified alongside Austrian ace Dominic Thiem who lost his last match against Matteo Berrettini.
"Just a night I enjoyed it from the beginning. I played incredible," Federer said. "I knew I had to because that's what Novak does and I was able to produce. So it was definitely magical."
Federer has now avenged losing the Wimbledon title to Djokovic, who won with a remarkable comeback, deny him a championship point in the decider and rode to lift the trophy.
Djokovic needed to win the championship to secure world number one ranking for the sixth time and since he has failed to qualify for the knockout stages, he technically has lost the place to Rafael Nadal for the fifth time.
