Nitto ATP Finals: Rafael Nadal Loses To Alexander Zverev In Opening Round

Rafael Nadal had an unimpressive start at the ATP Nitto Finals in London, losing the opening round to the defending champion, Alexander Zverev in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. He will meet Russian player Daniil Medvedev and Zverev will take on Stefanos Tsitsipas in the next round.

The second-seeded player did not just lose to the German, he had no breakpoint advantages against Zverev who served 11 aces and won 3-in-4 breakpoints advantages faced against him. Every effort made by the Spaniard to rally in the decider proved futile as the 22-year-old remained ruthless.

"The whole thing was about the serve. Obviously when I play this aggressive tennis, when I play this way, I have now beaten all three guys on this court, Big 3 [Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal], so it shows that I can play very well," Zverev said.

Until tonight, Nadal has a clean record of 5 consecutive victories over Zverev in ATP FedEx head-to-head. It really obvious that he was having a bad day against the player from the. Group Andrea Agassi. Also, The 33-year-old just recovered from a strained stomach that led to his withdrawal from Rolex Paris Masters in the quarter-final.

"This means so much, playing here again after winning my biggest title so far in my career here last year," he added."The atmosphere is the reason why everybody is trying, the goal of the beginning of the season is to make London."
