Nikola Adams Retires From Boxing Over Fears Of Vision Loss

British female boxer and two-time Olympic gold medallist, Nikola Adams, has retired from the sport over fears of losing her eyesight if she continued.

The Yorkshire-born, 37, revealed her decision was based on medical instructions given her that further impacts on her eye may cause permanent sight loss that might not be reversible.

"I've been advised that any further impact to my eye would most likely lead to irreparable damage and permanent vision loss," she she told Yorkshire Evening Post.

Adams won her first Olympic gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games and defended the medal at Rio 2016 Olympics. She was recently crowned women's boxing world champion for the first time in her career after she defeated title-holder, Arely Mucino, in September.
